Greetings from Nevada! I hope it’s been a great week.
Man, what a crazy week it has been. I’m at a loss for words to describe my thoughts and feelings from this week, only that I wonder what type of world we will live in when my children are grown. I hope it is a kinder one than the one we currently live in.
The kids went back to school this week and my work schedule continued back to normal. I worked in Vegas on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from home on Tuesday and Thursday. It almost felt strange to be back in Vegas three days a week after working from home for nearly two weeks.
The twins started back up with basketball this week as well. Because of the uniqueness of the school year and the county we usually play against being all virtual, we are doing things a little differently this year. As of right now, we believe we are going to be playing intramural basketball. They are still waiting on an official decision from the district. There is a chance no games will be played, but at least they are practicing and being active. My kids aren’t the biggest fans of wearing their masks the entire time, but they are powering through. I just like that they are being physically active after nearly a year of nothing.
I will say, I will be so glad when we have developed herd immunity to this virus. I hope that the vaccine will perform as anticipated and we can get back to living a somewhat normal existence. I also hope that the new strands that have popped up will also be protected against with the vaccine. I haven’t heard if they anticipate this or not, but my fingers are crossed for a good outcome.
I also hit it hard at the gym this week. I had been slacking somewhat with going during the break. I managed to go a couple days a week each week, but hadn’t gotten there on Fridays or Saturdays. I am following a program that has me doing specific workouts each day, and they had switched just prior to Christmas. So, this was actually my first week doing them. Dang, they were tough! And I was extra sweaty! But I powered through and finished them, and I’m pretty dang proud of myself.
In other good news, my Dad made it home from the hospital. It is tough to be 2,000 miles away when family is feeling less than 100%, especially when hospital visits are involved. Add in COVID and a fear of traveling and possibly carrying something to my ill family member, and it makes it even tougher. It eases my mind that he is out of the hospital and on the mend. I’d like to thank all the health care professionals that took care of him and got him back to better so quickly. I know your job is exceedingly hard these days, so please know you are so very much appreciated!
Until next week, make it a great one!
Amy
